EMS Physician Oversight

Physician oversight of EMS agencies is a critical piece in providing high quality and reliable medical care. The EMS medical director is a clinical and operational resource for the agency, assisting with policy and protocol development that is in line with the latest medical advances and evidence. The EMS medical director also helps oversee service quality and educational programs with the goal to improve both individual provider and overall service performance. Dr. Myers is an experienced EMS Medical Director with over 10 years overseeing BLS and ALS services as small as 10 providers and as large as 500+ providers. Level One Medical Direction Plan:
This plan includes the following activities tailored for your service and designed to enhance prehospital care:
• Development or enhancement of your quality improvement program.
• Chart review with monthly feedback (requires remote access to ePCR system).
• Two meetings a year for skills assessment, training session or general agency meeting.
• Oversight of PAD, narcan, epi-pen, albuterol and other programs in conformance with state regulations.
• Unlimited personal contact by phone/e-mail for questions or issues that may arise.
• Advisement to EMS Chiefs and Boards on medical and operational issues.
• Monthly medical director update newsletters.
• Fully insured for both medical malpractice and errors/omissions.
• Cost:
o Billed quarterly or annually.
o Save 10% if paid annually in full at the beginning of the contract!
o BLS: $200/month.
o ALS: $500/month.

Level Two Medical Direction Plan:
This plan includes the activities listed in the Level One Medical Direction Plan with the addition of 4 hours/month of dedicated in station time with your service. The goal of this plan is to provide face time with your EMTs and Paramedics, something which is infrequent however an important part of EMS medical oversight. Dedicated in station time can be used for standbys, field response, educational classes, and direct quality improvement activities. Other activities are as agreed by the agency and Dr. Myers.
• Cost:
o Billed quarterly or annually.
o Save 10% if paid annually in full at the beginning of the contract!
o BLS: $500/month.
o ALS: $1,500/month.

Level Three Medical Direction Plan:
In this unique plan, dedicated in station time is increased to meet the unique needs of your agency and provide additional face time with your providers, administrators, EMS Board or system stakeholders. These hours are purchased in addition to the 4 hours/month included in the Level Two Medical Direction Plan.
• Cost:
o Hourly rate quoted is for dedicated hours above 4 hours/month.
o Billed quarterly or annually.
o Save 10% if paid annually in full at the beginning of the contract!
o BLS: $125/hour/month.
o ALS: $175/hour/month.
Example: Dr. Myers and the agency agree on 8 hours of dedicated in station time per month. The first four hours are included in the level two plan and the remaining four hours are billed at the hourly rate above.
